James 2 month update
Weight: 5.37kg! Oh my goodness. My little newborn is no longer a newborn. He is an infant! He has outgrown his size 0000 newborn clothes and is now in 000 (0-3 months). He has now gained over 2kgs since birth.
Height: 58cm. He has grown 9cm since birth! He actually has quite long legs, his little body and arms could still fit into 0000 clothes but his legs are too long for anything with pants like his pajamas.
Routine: Still always changing but there's a slight pattern for a few parts of his day. He will wake up around 6 for a feed. Sometimes he's not even hungry yet and will just wake up and want to say good morning and have cuddles. :)
He usually has a nap around midday.
We give him a bath around 8pm and start bedtime routine of bath, massage, book, feed, bed. Sometimes he will have a feed before the bath. It may take a few tries to get him to stay asleep in his cot but he is usually asleep around 9pm.
Sleeping: After he falls asleep around 9pm, he has just started sleeping longer stretches of time - up to 5 hours! ahhh, it feels so good to sleep longer than 2 hours at a time haha. He will sleep til around 1-2am. Have a change, feed and sleep again til around 4am. He has been skipping his 4am feed lately and is sleeping straight to 6am! Again, it feels amazing! haha.
Feeding: Breastfeeding has become a lot easier now. I don't recall any major concerns or issues over the past month like I did within the first month. His main problem is still gas. :( He gets soooo gassy. Each doctor I've been to has said he has colic. poor thing. We have been giving him Infacol before his morning feed, lunch feed, afternoon feed and before bed feed. It works pretty well but sometimes even that doesn't help him. It breaks my heart when he has a 'colic attack' as I call it and he's screaming in pain and there's nothing I can do to help him. :( Other than that, he has been feeding quite randomly. Still around every 2 hours. Sometimes he will drink from both breasts, about once or twice a day - usually in the afternoon.
Milestones: He talks to us! Baby talk that is :) When we put our faces really close to his, he will start smiling, giggling and chatting to us. It is seriously the most heart warming thing I have ever seen in my life. He is sooo cute! He loves, loves LOVES chatting to Adam. I am quite jealous of the 'conversations' those two have together! so adorable.
His eyesight is so good now and he can track movements easily. He will follow you with his eyes if you walk past him. He stares at toys and all sorts of random things that catches his eye. He has started playing with toys! He has been trying to hit the toys under his playmat and also hits the ones in his bouncer as he can reach them now. His little arms and legs go craaazy. He is getting so clever and I love watching him grow and develop every single day. :)
